Exclamation Rear Hub Assembly Removal

Hi. I am trying to replace the rear hub assembly in my '95 corolla. I take off the wheel, and the manual says to take off the brake drum next. (There do not appear to be brake calipers).

But the daggon thing won't come off. I try to pull it off, and at first I just thought it was rusted on, but it wasn't. I was able to get it part the way off, but now it feels like it is being pulled back in by springs. What is going on? I'm afraid I'll pull off the brake shoes or something if I force it off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Edit: My bad man, figured I wouldn't bother people with a whole new thread.

Moderator- Can you move this to its own thread since it has nothing to do with front wheel bearings.

The drum doesnt come off easily because of the unworn/rusty edge of the drum. If you can get at the adjuster you can back it off, or just keep yanking until it slides off. Pull it STRAIGHT off for the easiest removal.

you gotta back off the star adjustor for the parking break. you should be able to get to it from the access hole in the bottom of the drum backing plate with a screw driver.

Manually adjust the starwheel in a few turns, using the slot in the backing plate, then use bolts in the two holes near the center of the drum to jack the drum out. Once the drum is off, grind off the ridge at the outer edge so you don't have the same issue the next time.
