My trip odometer stopped working -_-

Hey Nation,

Everytime I fill up, I reset my trip odometer to monitor my gas mileage per tank. Well last time I filled up, I reset the trip odometer, and now it won't move -_-. It stays at 0. I went to Pick and Pull and grabbed a cluster and took it apart to see how it works, and I have no idea why it would've stopped moving, any ideas on what the problem would be and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Strange, I had the same problem when my car was still very young but it weirdly automatically corrected itself in time.

I just turned 200k. My trip mileage counter stopped working about 15k miles ago. I also used it as a gas track and do miss it.

I'd take the cluster out and make sure that none of the teeth for the odometer are broken. If they are then you can simply replace the part (make sure you get the right one by counting the amount of teeth on your current one) or you can replace it with another cluster from a junkyard.

Occassionally on these mechanisms the reset gets jammed. Make sure the post you push on comes all the way back out. Sometime pushing in an extra time or two will make it release. Its just a common problem for something that gets old. If the teeth arent broken cleaning will fix it but I'm not writing the DIY for that.

The trip meter is very delicate and will break eventually unfortunately. There are little tiny arms holding the gears together, and they snap so easily. Definitely take it out and see what you can see.
