Red face Do I need charcoal canister?

Hi, just recently bought a 94 geo prizm, 1.6, 4 speed auto, with 57,000 miles on it. Replaced fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, tires, alternator, condenser, dryer, timing belt, idler pulley, ignition coil, plugs, wires, battery, changed oil, new radiator fluid. I live in Louisiana so emissions aren't as strict.

I removed my charcoal canister knowing it was stopped up. Is it ok to plug the lines and keep rollin, or should i save my pennies and buy a new one asap? Car runs fine without it. No engine lights are on. Good compression. No leaks. Slight smell of gas and gas mpg have have gone down since canister uninstalled

yes, you need one. otherwise you're just letting that $4.00 a gallon gas evaporate into the atmosphere.
