Just bought a geo prizm... got a nasty vibration at around 1000 rpms

Anyone know what could be the problem? car is running good at idle now but when its at 1000 rpms its got a vibration that shakes the whole car as its rising and coming down in rpms, its always around 1k either way. Also when the ac is on, a small vibration comes at idle.

Let me know what you think. Car is a 1.6 automatic with 159k

yeah Thats what i thought when I was replacing my trans. Later I removed the rear mount and poked around and found it was separated from the metal shell.

Common wear part for Toyota. The advice for you is good.

One is behind motor by flex pipe. engine mount is on the passenger side, torque mount is in the front where the crossmember is, and the transmission mount is under the airbox(must take out).

Ill check them all out. Have a feeling itll either be the transmission mount or the one by the flex pipe

Just put a jack underneath the oil pan and the vibration pretty much went away.. So now i know its a motor mount. Still trying to pinpoint which one or 2 or 3 failed

replace all 4. trans and engine and front will make the biggest difference. if all are worn and you replace one, it will be doing too much work and wear out very fast.

You wont be able to tell without removing them.

I posted a DIY for the rear. Its the hardest one to get at. The others are fairly simple.

Plan on all four, but I can be fairly certain that the front one is wasted and the other three are separated.
