Install guide to big horns?

I just got some hella replicas on ebay and when I put one of them in for some dumb reason I just wanted to test one out and used the existing horn wire. Thought I blew the fuse out because the stock one doesn't work anymore, but when I checked the fuse under the hood for the horn it looks good. Anyway does anyone have a write up for this? tried to search and checked the diy sticky thread and saw nothing.

The fuse looks good or is good?

use a test light to see if the circuit is working, jump the new horn to battery to make sure it's not defective.

You CANNOT hook up anything other than the standard "beep beep" horns to the stock wiring. The stock horns are low amperage and anyhting else (like Hella or Fiamm) are not and will either not work or blow fuses.

You HAVE to use a relay to power the horns. Its easy to use the stock wiring to switch the relay on. The relay is easily bought at any auto parts store.

Kind of true, I swapped the disc for a pair of electric horns with no ill effects for 5 years.

My old DIY might be of some use to you here. I put in a Nautilus truck-tone unit with a custom relay using all the stock mounting locations. Yeah, the wiring could be redone and cleaned up a bit, but the idea's sound. (So to speak.)
