Power steering leak detection

I have an intermitant leak from my power stearing system. It has coated the firewall and hoses in the back of my engine compartment. I cant figure out which line broke and needs replacing. any suggestions on how to isolate them so the leaky one can be replaced?

Most likey your high pressure hose...$40 part. You can use Lucas Power Steering fluid first, it can't hurt...

clean it all dry, have a friend start the car and turn the wheel lock to lock while you look. It's not rocket science.

My car (94 Prizm) is slowly being driven into the ground (I live down 20 miles of BAD road), so when I had a power steering leak, I looked at what a pain it is to replace the hose, and just cut the belt.
No power steering for the last 20,000 miles, and I'm really used to it now.

I agree with mvftw, I had a power steering leake and it was the pressure hose. In my case it wasn't a tear in the actual hose, there's a brass fitting on the end of the pipe near the pump, and it was leaking from there. It's not an expensive part though, hope this helps.

My hose seeps at the rubber/metal joint. Not enough to do anything about until it makes a real mess.
