Installing a 3rd brake light?

i want to install a 3rd brake light onto my trunk but i really dont know how to do the wiring.

do i cut the wiring on the taillights and connect to the 3rd brake light?

any help will be appreciated.

Are you installing it in addition to the original, or is it going to replace the original? If it's replacing the original, then I would tie into the original circuit if the new light doesn't draw significantly more current.

It's gonna be an addition..It's just a red led strip(12volt) that I'm going to put on my trunk lip.

just splice into the existing 3rd rake light harness. its only a power and a ground.
