Can I Swap Seats With A....

Hey nation,

Pick and pull is having a half off sale this weekend if you didn't know and I wanted to upgrade the boring seats in my 96 to something a little more sporty. I've tried older Celicas and MR2s and their tracks do not line up. Would a 96 Honda Preludes tracks match up? What about a 96 Camry? I wouldn't mind leather. If you know any other year Corollas or different model cars that have seats that would fit a 96 Corolla let me know. Thanks in advance.

I've never tried doing this or even tried switching seats, or even taken my seats out, but, could you possibly take the mounts off of a seat that fits, and put them on a different seat, so they fit the rails?

I'm wondering the same thing.

Also, would I be able to swap out the rear bench seat with 2 aftermarket bucket seats?

None of those match up. Every car is different.

In order to use those seats you'll need to fabricate some custom seat rails and weld the attachment points to reinforce them.

The LE trim level had more bolstered seats. Beyond that you're looking at cut-and-paste mounting rails or a generic set of rails for a Corbeau/Sparco/whatever aftermarket seat.

Some time back I found a set of AE92 seats for $10 each, so some work by a now-defunct tuning shop had the rails swapped. They also sit lower by an inch or so...every little bit helps when you're 6'6".

Big point to be aware of...you are literally trusting your life to these rails, to hold your seat to the floor and to hold the seat to the rails so that you're secured in the cabin. Be really sure you trust the integrity of your work or your speed shop before you start chopping and fitting.

Geo Prizm seats were like the LE seats (I got asked several times if they were stock seats LOL), but came in plain colors with no ugly prints. Blue, tan, darker tan I think, maybe black?

You are very right. I thought about mounting my old tracks onto another seat, but who knows if the seats are re-enforced for the tracks like the stock seats are. Thanks for your advice.

Those twin cam seats look nice in there.

@kiwi. Love your car boss. Love your car. BT 20V axles? Think you can get ahold of a pair along with the "E" series 6spd tranny? I'm selling my girls sentra to buy a 4dr ae92 or if I find a 93-95(them years do to obd1 ecu) 1.8 5spd corolla. I'll buy that. Correct me if I'm wrong but the 1.8 93-97 corolla is a 7afe correct? If not, which car does that motor comes in??
