gen 7 Highbeam switch does not keep high beams on

I have a 1993 Corolla DX Wagon with 294,000 miles and change on it. I've been having this problem for a while but now its getting annoying. When ever i need to use my high beams i need to pull the lever back towards me to use them rather than push the lever forward to keep them on. I've read on here and other forums that its probably the switch that's dirty or the switch is not working at all. I'm trying to figure out how to take out the switch to examine it. Any help with really be appreciated, thanks in advance.

you can remove the switch by taking out the steering wheel and clock spring to inspect it.

Those switches are expensive too.
I had the same exact problem . i removed the steering wheel and disconnected the air bag. the switch was full of gunk. I cleaned it up and a year later, it still works just fine. Watch out, there's a tiny little ball bearing in there about the size of a BB. Don't lose it.
I'm glad too. Toyota wanted $225.00 US for a new one.

nope no luck, I cleaned out the switch but it still doesnt lock the highbeams. its probably a wire problem. I'll probably change the switch later down the road.
