95 prizm 3sgte?

My wifes car has been sitting with a blown engine for many years now. She wanted a turbo engine or none at all so i never started on the car. Well im not working atm so i guess ill kill some time on it. I need a pick of the passenger side factory mount (took the engine out years ago and can't find it) and a pick of the underside rear of an all trac celica. Think i'm gonna go AWD but FWD for now so she can be happy and have her car back on the road. I like doing things that not many people have done and the 3sgte fit the bill. i want an alltrac scoop for the hood but cant find one and the tacoma scoop seems like it would be to wide. thanks again any help is appreciated.

I don't think an AWD swap is feasible. AE92s were sold in North America with All-Trac AWD but they are very very rare. The only one I've seen for sale was for parts and the entire drive train as a mess. The AE10x also came with All-Trac but I believe this was only on wagons sold in other markets, and even then I've never heard of one.

The 3SGTE is a good motor, but a difficult fit. Having a Prizm adds to the difficulty (different wiring harness which will take more time/money to have done for a swap). It also requires modifications to the mounts and engine bay to fit. a 4AGZE supercharged is a straight fit mount wise (you will need to reroute the intercooler) and a JDM version makes 175HP which lots of potential for more power due to very well built internals. US versions make about 30hp less due to emissions parts.

It is also possible to have the 4AFE or 7AFE take a turbo, either with stock internals (conservative boost) or going with custom or retrofitted 4AGZE internals (I believe a rod/crank/piston swipe is possible, as is upgrading the head bolts). If you go all out like a member on here has done, you can make around 300hp with a completely custom build, though more realistically you're looking at around 200hp. You can also swap in a 4AGE 20 Valve which make about 165hp and depending on the model (silver or black top) and can take varying amounts of boost.

This website also has a guide to boosting a 7AFE: http://www.6gc.net/howto/turbocharge_your_7afe

Got $10,000 to drop into the car? No? Buy something that comes with AWD and turbo and scrap the rolla.

I think i'm aware of the challanges that is in front of me therefor this would be more productive if you could offer me the info that i ask for. By the way those that can do those that can't spend $$$$$$$? If you like to gamble i can promise you that i won't have $500 in this project aside from the motor, tranny, ecu, wiring harness, fuel pump, etc... which i already have from jhot. $1800 and it came with everything to do the swap except the rear end. I have a spare celica gt for everything i need to do the swap. the only thing i will need to do is make mounts and that may take a week. So if you could sir can you tell me where $10k come from. Engine was already removed and to switch the tranny and put the engine in took 2.5 hrs.

I don't have a picture, but I've got to ask; what are you mounting the horn on? I have an aftermarket horn with an actual horn in it that is not a real good fit where it is currently at and I've been trying to figure out some other mounting solution.

kinda at a lost to the horn question. the horn is mounted in the factory location next to the a/c fan. how big is the horn in question

there is plenty of room behind the bumper. you could try in the wheel well or on the fire wall where the alarm horn is mounted in the pic if you can see it. its on the driver side.

I was just wondering as my horn is mounted on the upper bar the radiator mount and headlights bolt to (that empty hole on the right side with nothing in it). Could be a mistake from the previous owner's less than accurate attempts at fixing it. Sorry to derail your thread.

How are you going to mount the rear differential and where is the gas tank going to be located? You're going to run a trunk mounted fuel cell? What drive shaft are you going to use? Do you know what axles you'll need in the front? Are you just going to swap hubs or keep the 4 lug? etc etc. I understand you're just 'gathering information' but trust me, this isn't doable for a daily driver and certainly not on a small budget.

Where did my $10,000 figure come from?
I've read about the Fensport AWD 7th gen Celica and I've seen that thrown around as the down payment they ask to cover the engine/awd parts/custom fabrication/etc. Think about it, you're going to have to fabricate a front engine sub frame to hold the trans which has an output shaft going back to the rear differential which is going to bolt to the also custom fabricated rear suspension member. Unless you own your own machine shop and are fluently versed in design of automotive parts you'll have to hand that off to someone who is...and those are not cheap people to even talk to.

If you just want to drop a 3S in and leave it FWD with an E153 trans, set aside about $3000-$5000 depending if you want to leave the engine/trans stock or get them worked over. Now you've got 200+whp and tq in a car with suspension, brakes, and a chassis designed to handle 100whp. So you'll need to figure brakes to be able to stop safely (not to mention you've also added several hundred pounds of mass to the vehicle to stop and turn), suspension to handle the added power and weight, tires and wheels to be able to use that power, brakes and suspension, etc.

A project like this always costs more than you anticipate in the end to do it correctly. If you want to just hack it and throw the engine in then fine. But expect things to wear out or break more often or sooner than is normal for a daily driven car. As I said, if you want AWD and turbo pick up a used Evo, Subie, etc.

As they say when budgeting for a car project, take how much you think it will cost and double it.
