Brake Pedal Pulsating.

So after I replaced my rear shoes and drums in the back on my '95 Prizm LSi. My brake pedal starts to pulsate pretty bad everytime I hit the brakes doing 30+ coming to a stop. I was told to adjust my rear brakes? Never did this before I replace my shoes and drums. I know a front warp rotor will do, the steering wheel will shake if its the front, but this situation now is just the pedal pulsating. At first I thought it was my front rotors that are bad til I was told maybe it's my rear brakes that needs more adjusting.

Any inputs are welcome!

This kind of sounds as if your drums are not round on the inside as they should be, but somehow oval. Bad parts perhaps?

Thanks for the reply. And you are correct, the new drums I put on were defect. Therefore, I brought it back for a set of new ones and now the problem has gone away.

No more brake pedal pulsation.

Will you divulge where they were purchased and what country of origin they were of?

With all the crappy parts out there these days, inquiring minds want to know which parts to steer clear of, ESPECIALLY brake parts!

I bought them from Napa Auto Parts store. And they're all over the U.S if I'm not mistaken. I work for Volkswagen, and I get a discount price on every part, so thats why I chose to go there.

Hey Dirty Dude...just my 2 cents' worth...Any drum will get warped if it's dropped or banged up or shipped wrong.
Coming from China doesn't help much, despite the Napa brand.
If I remember correctly, the inexpensive Chinese drums were less than $30 each and the Denso ones were over $100 each. Coming all the way from Japan might not be too good for them either.
Have your new drums turned; it can save some grief.

You should always machine new drums because they are so easily warped. Machining the drums in the first place should have solved your problem, unless you had some crazy warped drums.

Also, Napa Golds are just rebranded Raybestos. Better than anything you're gonna get from Kragen.

Edit: Damn, how did I miss what he said above me?

Not thoroughly cleaning the drums inside or getting grease/oil on the drum braking surface or the shoes can cause a warped feeling as well.
