1993 exhaust manifold, simple question please help

Hey guys,

I have a 1993 toyota corolla LE 1.8L. I have a massive crack in my exhaust manifold, found out once i removed the front heat shield. So it needs to be replaced. So the problem I'm having is fining the right part, I'm going to buy off the internet because it is much cheaper and as a student i need all the help I can get. BUT the issue is where the 02 sensor is located. I guess some manifolds have the 02 sensor "hole" on the part but it seems that on my car the "hole for the 02 sensor is on the pipe that attaches to the exhaust manifold. I'm looking at this part:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STAIN...item27be8e9a25

Its stainless steel so i don't have to worry about rusting and its a fair price + it looks nice. But as you can see on the picture the hole is on the exhaust manifold itself. Does it make a difference? What do you guys think? Thanks a lot

I had the same issue with my 1.6... The manifold is a very common issue with these cars, which is why Toyota has gone to using mostly aluminum manifold pipes now. As long as the manifold doesn't have the O2 sensor built in, you're good, regardless of whether it says it's for the 1.6 or the 1.8.

That pipe after the manifolds is the downpipe.I didn't know the 1.8's had the sensor there but my 1.6 has the O sensor on the manifolds itself. It doesn't make a difference at all, because the air will flow past it either way.

Wrong, they all have the O2 in the same place. I have a 1.8L as well with headers and it is located in the "manifold" too. Maybe in the pic it does not look similar but all of them are in the same position.

Regards!

No they don't. Some cars have the 02 sensor on the down pipe and other have it in the manifold itself. Look on this link

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Geo-T...item519abafea7

Under product description it says "Fits vehicles that do not use the O2 (oxygen sensor) in the manifold, but do use it in the exhaust pipe".....But the one I'm interested in comes with the exhaust manifold and the downpipe and agree with MirrorEyes cuz both holes are past the manifold so it shouldn't matter, I just wasn't sure. Either on the downpipe or on the manifold should be okay, i hope

Regardless of where the O sensor goes, it does not matter if it is on the manifolds or the downpipe, it's like, what, an 8-10" placement difference either way.

Pay shipping, you can have my old manifold from a 93 1.8. I also have the J pipe as well. My manifold is the style with the two bolt flange on the pipe, manifold is not cracked.

Not sure, figure the manifold and pipe will weigh about...40lbs 30lbs? pick your shipper and get an estimate from zip code 60429.

I don't have the car anymore, so no need for the parts.

Here's an old photo.

Still looks like that, I'll double check it for cracks before I box/ship it.

I can separate the manifold from the pipe if you want to save shipping costs. You'll need a new manifold to pipe gasket, exhaust gasket should be OK to reuse.

I just replaced my cracked exhaust manifold with OE type Dorman's so I wouldn't have issues when it comes to emmision, mpg jumped from 19 to over 28.

Well the car is gone so it's of no use to me. scrap on it wouldn't be worth driving to scrap it, so someone might as well get some use out of it right? had about 115K when I took it off for an ebay header.

I have a brand new manifold-to-head gasket because that's where I thought the leak was coming from and I was about to replace it....then i found the crack. I wouldn't need the exhaust pipe because I just got a new expansion joint clamped/welded on .....so the manifold should be fine....please inspect thoroughly for cracks.....Also, SO thats why I have the worst fuel mileage!! I thought I had a bad 02 sensor because i just did a NGK tune up and didn't improve anything. This site:
http://postcalc.usps.gov/
has flat rate boxes up to 70lbs and it seems that either the medium flat rate box (hopefully) or large flat rate box should do.

Alright, PM me your address and I'll give you my paypal. Let's just guess on $30 for shipping? I'll get it shipped as soon as I have your address and the money for shipping.

close enough? If it's substantially less than $30 I'll give you back some.
