Stock Air Filter vs. C.A.I

ive had my C.A.I for a couple of months now.
and one thing i notice is that when i FLOOR it, it doesnt give me that push when i have my stock air filter...
its weird but i feel like my stock gave me more acceleration..

UPDATE:

is this a COLD AIR INTAKE NOW???

pipe goes AROUND BATTERY .. than down next to the FAN

TOOK OFF THE COVER UNDER THE FILTER

when i took off the COVER

would i need a intake bypass? its gonna be the raining season SOON in vegas..and the filter is pretty close to the ground.

That's a short ram intake buddeh. I have a short ram, I notice that off the acceleration it's a lot better than stock, but in the higher RPMs it's a bit more sluggish.

edit:
Cold air intakes come out behind the bumper light, or in the wheel well, or somewhere in that general area.

Here's pictures of Chris's (gold94corolla) CAI:

and here's some of Scott's (kiwi) CAI:

That's a short ram intake (SRI) and might I say... it is a very short one. Its too close to the engine to get cool air and too far from the fender to get air flow. Either get an extension or go buy some house-hold dryer hose and hook it inside the cone to the fender well. I would suggest getting the extension though.

Not exactly modded. He had a short ram, then he built that intake, which is a cold air. The difference is that our short rams are still in the engine bay thus sucking in the hot air, but Chris and Scott's intakes are/were out of the engine bay, in the wheel well/behind bumper light in order to only get the cold air that is close to the ground.

You cannot purchase CAI's for our cars anymore, which is why they built them themselves. I am planning on this after the winter :P

I believe Chris bought his off of eBay, and Scott bought his off of the New Zealand equivalent of eBay. I have all the tubing and stuff (based on Chris's specs) in my garage, ready to make my CAI next spring. I bought all the couplers and pipes from siliconeintakes.com (I just bought the 2 foot 2.5" 45 degree bent pipes and cut them down to fit). I mocked the set up a few weeks back using Chris's instruction from his CarDomain page, link here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/801395...4d/page-9#CAI2

You don't need to grind it out with a dremel tool if you use 2.5" tubing which is the diameter of the hole left by the stock box. Not much of a difference from the 3" tubing of our Short Ram's.

you can buy Spectre plastic pipes from autozone or get the metal exhaust pipes there and some couplers. Hell, you could go to a hardware store and get some piping. Piece em together or if you have a machine that can bend/stretch pipe, even better.

Stock airbox with the silencer delete, nice sound and you get colder air outside the engine bay.

That with some PVC and you can do an infender colad air system.
