Rear Suspension clunkage

I've seen others post about it.

My car had it from the day I bought it. 50k later its finally fixed.

Previously I checked all the components as best I could and couldnt find anything worn out. I originally thought it was bad end links on the sway bar.

Its all fixed with new rear struts. Only struts.

Checking over the OEM struts I did find a potential explanation. Compression on the OEM strut had no damping for about 10mm and then damping kicked in. I'm guessing the sudden stop when the damping kicked in is what caused the clunk.

I didnt find any other worn parts on the suspension. I decided to do this work to celebrate my car turning over 240k.

Glad to hear you got it all sorted out. I bet it rides nicer now.

On my car it was the exact opposite in a sense. I would get clunking going over bumps or even if I swerved side to side violently. But in my case it was a worn link and worn sway bar bushings.

Almost fooled myself once into thinking the links and bushings were OK by trying to check them with the car jacked up :P

Cheers
