Apexi Safc 1 questions and help on install and tune

I have a 94 geo 7afe ecu 4afe engine I got an apexi safc 1 for 40$ I've seen the install for the safc2 but after the diagram there's nothing. I'm wondering if I can use that same wiring diagram for the 1st gen afc. Also how to I tune it for n/a engine. And then for a turbo in about a month. Thanks in advance!

Talk about a step back in time. It's amazing how far tuning options have come in the last 20 years.

Instructions:
http://fc3spro.com/TECH/MODS/EL/FUELCON/APEXI/afc.htm

Once it's set up for your car, you pretty much just turn the knobs to increase/decrease fueling in each RPM window.

I'll say up front that they did work and people made power with them, but personally, I would use something a bit (a lot) more capable like a programmable EFI computer with a wideband EGO sensor. The SAFC was (and still is, IMO) an expensive fudge box from the days before affordable standalones. Now you can get into a MegaSquirt for less than an SAFC cost in the '90s.

It's not the one with knobs it's the first safc model silver box blue face and 4 buttons. I want to install it but I'm not sure about the tune. I have to drive my geo everyday to work pretty far so I just don't wanna put it in then have stall issues or something else. I really just want to install and leave it basically as stock as I can till I can tinker with it.

The only way you can make huge changes in your engine and tune it is with a dyno. You can do some tuning using an AFR.

I'm sure I can install it now thanks guys, but now my question is can I just start it up without adjusting settings or is the a generic setting I can set it to. I have an auto and it's stock besides the exhaust and swap. I can get to a dyno but really dont want to. I need the car to drive and I don't want to have to tow anywhere.

I believe when it is turned off it doesnt make any changes. I cant see your use of the device to make your car run any better than it already does. It will only be necessary when you go to boost.

I dont think I can just turn it off. I do feel a couple low rPm bands in 3rd and 4th that feel they could use more fuel or air I'm not sure. But I amwondering what do I do on initial setup borefore boost. Boost is abOut 1-2 months away. So right now initial setup tune for n/a engine is what I need help with.
