DIY mudflaps?

So... the subarus around me are starting to grow on me and I was thinking why not put some mudflaps on my car?

I mean the front ends of this gen and the gc subarus do kinda look similar. so I figured the heck with it.

I came to this conclusion because the mud guards are way expensive and I feel like I could make rally armor type flaps for my car.

What you guys think? Should I go through with the plan? or do you think it's pointless and stupid. Opinions are greatly appreciated. If I get enough I'll go through with a plan and post a step by step instructional tutorial to do so!

As long as the mud flaps are too flashy (like yellow) than they would look good. I brought the cheap universal flat plastic from Oreilly's for $8 a pair and look fine on my 2002 Camry. (Later upgraded to color-match OEMs) They really help protect the lower panels and paint from rock chips and road tar.

YES, that was what I was getting at too! there is construction EVERYWHERE and i'm getting sick of hearing all the rocks beat up the bottom of my car. and noo way not getting some flashy color. I'm trying to stick with black and then spray painting something on them like TRD but we'll see

Does somebody know?

There were painted OEMs you could get at some point. I can't say for certain due to the different sheet metal, but the frame on the 98-02 is the same as the 93-97 so odds are the mount parts are too. Even if it's different, you may be able to fit them with some minor drilling/filing. Wish I had mudflaps on mine too, as the sides of my rear bumper cover are beat to hell.

And if you have to drive in mud they actually do a decent job of keeping mud off the car...this I learned over the weekend in the woods of Maine xD

i could probably get you some oem 93-97 corolla mud flaps. last time i was at the junk yard there was a 96 dx with the full set on it. im not sure of their condition but i know that theyre not crushed. pm me if youre interested and how much youre looking to spend including shipping and ill see what i can do.
