Ebay Header Corolla 1.8 and 1.6 Fit Problem

Hey all,

Had some good help on here when had issues with a water pump. Information was spot on!

So got that all back together. But there was always a slight exhaust leak so I figured I'd fix that at the same time. Turns out it's a cracked manifold.

So, did some research and found that what sounded like the cheapest and best solution was to go with an Ebay header. It looks like I have the 1.6 motor but from reading around here the 1.8 and 1.6 headers are interchangeable.

So ordered the 1.8 header kit as that seemed to be the only one available for a under a million dollars.

Got it today, tried to put it on. Bolt hole pattern is different.

Thanks.

The bolt patterns for the 1.8 and 1.6 are the same, I have a stock 1.8 manifold on my 1.6 right now. The only difference is the downpipe goes down a little further. Personally on eBay the only headers I would trust are stock or OBX ones, but as kick said perhaps you got sent a different header?

Yeah. Maybe I jumped the gun. Started comparing the header to the gaskets old and new, and the gaskets are the same, but they don't line up with the header holes correctly.

Grrr..!!! Working with the Ebay seller to see about what is going to be done.

I remember someone had this problem a little while back, they were just off by one hole or something like that, so they just drilled it out, I'm not sure if that would solve your problem. But yeah no talking to the dealer would probably be best first.

7A-FE and 4A-FE both use the same part number for the cylinder head, thusly have the same exhaust manifold stud pattern. The difference between the 7A and 4A exhausts are in the length of the J-pipe, since the 7A block is a little taller. Another difference can be in how the Oxygen sensor mounts, some are flanged and some are threaded.
