For mementos or future use? As a memento, if you really loved the car, you could do worse than preserving the gas/brake/(clutch) pedals and the steering wheel, make sort of a collage in a poster frame to put up on your wall. Better yet, keep the hood, mount them on that somehow, for that modern-art-esque sort of thing.
Hell, get them to pull your engine and have somebody strip it down to the bare block, get a sheet of glass, pull the head off, and use it as an end table. (Probably too small to support a coffee table, 1.8L only goes so far.)
Replace your rain gutters with the old exhaust piping, cut in half...
Line a garden path with the wheels and tires, cut in half to make eight little half-circles...
I may be too inebriated for further suggestions to be of much use, beyond 'take what's sentimental, start a part-out thread for the rest'.
greetings from north carolina (previously waterboro ME) take the battery and the catalytic converter. none of the existing parts will be of any use on your 01. you can at least sell the battery and the cat. oh and take the air bag(s). maybe you can blow something up. maybe take the drivers seat and make a desk chair out of it? the lock and window switches should be the same so maybe take those as well. idk. do what you want i guess lol.... oh how i miss my geo... R.I.P.
There are a few parts that are no good. That tank became disconnected and fell into the alternator belt, so it got cut by friction. I had to patch it with bondo LOL. I don't think you'd want it.
Below are some pics from last time I was messing with novice car repair.
The interior is all good but not pictured.
It's a 5-spd with good motor (225,000 miles though) and good tranny, but too much rust underneath. My mechanic wanted like $800+ to fix it so I bought a different Corolla.
Let me know if you need more specific, or better photos.
If its drivable put it on craigslist as a parts car that can't pass inspection due to body rust for $500. You might get lucky and someone looking for an engine/transmission/etc will give you $300 for it.
The Following User Says Thank You to lrak For This Useful Post:
I am close to New Hampshire, relatively. In Lewiston Google that and PM me if you want to meet up.
lrak,
It is a good idea to sell the car on Craigslist, but the plot is actually a little thicker. Coincidental timing = My nephew has a low-milage 7th generation Corolla and he had a small collision. He needs the following parts :
Right front fender, right front door, right head light assembly with parking light, and front bumper cover.
Because he needs these parts, and two different mechanics told me the car was not worth fixing, I decided to scrap it.
I can also use the wheels so both my Summer and Winter tires are on rims. My daughter and I bought the car 2 hours North and had time to ride in it, we both think the 7th gen seats are more comfortable, I'll see if they fit
But I did put ads on Craigslist and in this forum for parts :

Well, all the suspension stuff from the 7th gen interchanges with the 8th gen. If your 01 has worn anything, or doesn't have swaybars (assuming the Geo does), the way seems clear.
