Is it ok to use a synthetic atf rather than dexron?

Planning to use Castrol Multi-Vehicle ATF....is it safe or it doesnt matter

Thanks

At this point, anything that meets Dexron2 or Dexron3 specs is fine. Synthetic is fine as well. I noticed that mine shifted MUCH better in the cold with synthetic fluid and overall shifted very very smoothly with new fluid. A number of miles later I added an ounce of 'trans stop leak and seal conditioner' to the fluid and it made the shifts much firmer and a little faster. My trans however failed at a later date, though I think the fluid change and additive are un-related since the failure was intermittent.

Dexron is the name for GM transmission fluid. Others used the same spec fluid so its not always for GM anymore.
