Wiper size options (your winter weather advisory!)

Did you know it's possible to put a 24" and a 19" wiper on our cars without having the tips (quite) touch and without (quite) having anything extending beyond the edge of the windshield? Reasonably sure it's a 19", it might be a 17", I'll check the boxes again tomorrow and update this as needed. The 24" is accurate though.

It reduces the unswept triangle to about a 2 inch by 2 inch spot and makes a vast different in the top coverage.

For tall folks (if I sit up straight, even in the lowered seat, my head flattens the headliner), this can make a powerful lot of difference.

Can you take some photos of the new wiping area from the inside?

It would put things into better perspective.

I never said I didn't use the Rain-X washer fluid...anything over 50, I don't need the wipers, as long as I'm not getting spray from other traffic.

Also, with all the cumulative rock damage to, and sandblasted nature of, my windshield...lower contact pressure keeps the wipers from ruining themselves on rough glass quite as fast.

Phat, I'll see what I can do tomorrow/this weekend with the good camera, if I can unearth it. For now, here's a quick pic from the outside via cell.

It IS a 19", and the reason the one on that side appears to hang down about 1/8th inch below the glass is because I think I put the wiper arms back on about 1/8th inch off after their repaint.

you can easily adjust the wiper arm yourself, and I would suggest it since smacking the cowl there will ruin the end of the blade, especially if it's iced up. Ice loves to get on those blades on the blade itself down the little groove on either side.

I upgraded mine to larger sizes the first time I replaced them. I believe it was 19" and 22".

Here's a before and after.
