oxygen sensor wiring help

problem i have with my 7th gen rolla is the plug on the engine/emission harness side was messed up when i got the car. i went to the junkyard and grabbed a new plug and some wiring from another corolla including the new plug. i am talking about the o2 sensor on the exhaust manifold near the front of the car. it has 2 wires and 1 of them is hollow it seems for air i am guessing, not 100% sure. the problem I am having is how can i splice this together with my existing wire? since the wire is hollow how should i join them together in order to make it work correctly??

its kind of hard to explain but the plug has a brown and grey wire that runs to the engine and that part was messed up so i had to get a new one and i want to join them together now.

Here is a picture of what I am trying to join together. The black tube is hollow and then the wiring itself.

The black tube is hollow because the conductor isnt inside it like it should be. The other wires form a shield to reduce noise in the low voltage the sensor puts out. Keep cutting back your "tube" until you find the wire.

so there should be a wire inside the tubing? once i find the wire can i just splice it together like ordinary wires? and should i keep it separate from the rest of the wire?
