Without a little more description, I'd guess maybe a wheel bearing?

Well. A grinding noise in the front end would most likely be a wheel bearing. I assume it increases in pitch as you go faster? I'd do the basic checks, like look at the tires and make sure you don't have one that is severely cupped or worn. That can make some serious noise.

Put the car up on stands and spin the wheels to see if you hear any grinding or have any excess slack. You can ever have somebody run the car with the tires in the air and see if the noise can be pinpointed. Be careful and make sure the car is very well blocked up.

Bearings here cost like $30 for our cars. With installation and the cost of the bearings I don't estimate it should be too much.

Well worth fixing... even if it is a beater!

Is it coming from the front or back? It is something I experienced myself as well.

In my case, it was a rock chip stuck between the rear XRS disk (since you have a drum brake in the back, if it is coming from the back then it must be the bearing). and caliper which made that grinding noise. I had to take it to Toyota and they disassembled the brake kit and took the rock chip out. The noise was fixed that way.
