CV's

Anyone know where I can get some, relatively cheap without a core charge if possible.

I just changed mine cv shaft on the driver side. I bought the remanufacture shaft from Napa for $50 something and the core charge is only $10. The metal end covers does not come with it. I pound out the covers from an old shaft and put it on the new shaft.

Brand new axles, no core charges. Do yourself a favor and replace the axle seals while you are down there. I've put 4,000 miles on the axles so far and they are fine. Quality seemed nice as well.

Copied from my repair spreadsheet:

$75 MasterPro Select New Axle - Driver 7/25/11 O'Rielly
$75 MasterPro Select New Axle - Passenger 7/25/11 O'Rielly
$30 NAPA Axle Seals (2) 11/28/11 NAPA

If you aren't familiar with how to get axles in and out, this is a good video with a top tip.

The tool he is using to hold onto the axle is this

Check the rest of your suspension bits while you have things apart. Wil save you from multiple alignments.

I've done CV's on a couple cars, and all are relatively the same as the Corolla, I read the how to on Alldata at work.

Had the suspension apart a month or so ago and everything looks fine, as far as alignments I work at a shop and get free ones
Only costs me some time.
