I have a problem. 8 days ago when I was filling my gas tank up, it stopped by itself like it always does. I decided to put in a little extra to get the price to an even amount. I usually never do that and felt like doing it this time. I did that and I noticed a lot of gas was leaking out from the pipe thing in the picture I attached.
I didn't know what was wrong with it. I was going to get it towed and the tow guy said there was nothing wrong with the car, I just overfilled it. But I thought that was strange because I see full service people adding a little extra to get the price to an even amount all the time and this never happend before. So I believed him and didn't get it checked out.
Today I put in more gas for the first time since then and I waited until it stopped by itself, and it was still leaking from the same spot. So I know there is defintley something wrong with that part because this has never happened to me since that time 8 days ago.
I figure Im going to have to replace that part/pipe thing. Today I just got a new front flex pipe because my car was really really loud and getting terrible gas mileage (about a little over 200 mile per full tank) and they said they had to replace the O2 sensors gasket when they replace the flex pipe. I asked them if there was anything else causing me to get bad mileage and they could find anything else. I also installed my winter tires also. It was $375 total. It was at a Good Year Auto service center. They are not my usual repair place. I'm going to get it checked out tomorrow at the place I usually go to.
What is the problem and how much is it going to cost? I don't have a lot of money and don't want to put a lot of money into this car. But I want to get at least 30 mile per gallon like used to. I have had this car for 5 years.
This is the rear left side of the car where you pump the gas into. Gas was leaking out of that dirty looking pipe thing in the middle.
