jack stands

Ok, so I bought a 1993 toyota corolla for my daughter that we are going to work on over the next 6 months or so until she gets her G2.

My question is what height of jack stands should I get to be able to work confortably under the car to do some exhaust work and anything else I may need to work on under there? They go from anywhere from about 13 inches max height to around 18 inches max height at the one store I have looked at so far. Or should I look for something taller?

Thanks in advance for answering my question and I am sure we will have many more to follow.

I would definitely recommend adjustable height jack stands. There are quite a couple of places along parts of the suspension which you may want to support. 18 inches should be enough, but then again I cannot know what is comfortable for you. If you want *really* good access you will need a proper lift
I managed to replace my fuel tank using about 18 inch jack stands. That was without taking off the exhaust pipe even. Granted it was *not* comfortable and it was a two people job, but it could be done.

I would suggest car ramps... get a pair of Rhino ramps and drive the rear up on the ramps to do the work.
