Also make sure the sun is at the right angle; either directly overhead for balanced light (early midday), or on a cloudy day which are good for balanced light as well. If it's at the wrong angle it'll either be facing you (leading to unbalanced lighting and lens flare) or to your back (leading to unwanted shadows or reflections) and it will be hard to get good light balance in your picture, so you may need to lock in your focus by looking at something darker or zooming in to focus on the car and zooming at. Since it isn't moving you can shoot at a slower shutter speed (especially if you bring a tripod) and let you play with your depth of field a bit with narrowing the aperture valve opening. You can either use the background to add to the photo, or focus on the car and blur out the background, making it the subject of your photo. Have fun and take lots of shots to get that one good one! Also avoid getting your reflection in the car, as those can be really difficult to touch out of a photo.
