95 corolla won't start

i have a 95 corolla dx. it has the 7afe motor in it. i replace the headgasket job and install new waterpump, timing belt, and all gaskets. i know forsure i did the timing correct. assemble everything back together and started the car. it turned over the first two trys, but then now it will just click from the starter. on my cluster, the battery and oil light wont go away when i turn the key to the on position. i know the starter and battery is good, cause it did work before i did the headgasket changover. anyone with any suggestions will be very appreciated. thanks.

Battery light is on when the ignition is on because its not sensing power from the alternator.

And oil light is because there is no oil pressure.

It sounds like your battery could be dead.

Charge it, over night on a low setting and try in the morning.

Clicking is usually a sign of a bad battery, and if your in Northern US its cold as balls out, so typically batteries go to crap now.

well fellas,

i thought the problem was fixed, but its starting to do the same thing. i replaced the battery with a known good battery and it did start up. my girlfriend drove the car to work that same day and it didn't die or anything. it started right back up when she came home from work. i went out the next morning to start it back up, it wouldn't. it just clicks from the starter. i would try like maybe 25-30 trys to crank the motor and it would just click from the starter, then it would fire up. so i haven't drove it since. i don't want to get stranded somewhere. this is what i know as of right now - good battery (replace with my running honda accord battery), good starter (got it tested at advance auto parts, tested good), good motor (its not seized, because my girlfriend drove it to work and back with no problem), im pretty sure my connections on the battery are good and clean. my only other option is my starter relay. imma test the starter relay and see if it works. if anyone else has any other suggestions, i would highly appreciated it. thanks.

Test the alternator before you go though all the tough stuff.

Simple things are usually the cause to cars problems.

Sounds like bad brushes on starter.

Test your battery as well. Maybe over night something was left on or something is draining it.

Parasitic drain.

Is anything staying on after you turn the car off?
