short ram 02 sensor too short!

I am installing my Short ram intake for my 97 DX. Everything fits except the o2 sensor is too short! What options do I have? I have wiggled the short ram around to try and get it as close to the sensor as possible but no matter what position, it is still a 1 inch gap from the sensor to the sensor hole in the pipe. What options do i have? anyone else have this problem?

It's not an O2 sensor, it's an air temp sensor. Drill new hole, closer to sensor, Plug old hole.

Oh, thanks. I managed to get the air temp sensor to reach by flipping the pipe around so the sensor hole is closer to the intake. It works and sounds great!

Is the air temp sensor an important piece?

Mine can't go into the intake because I have no hole, and it won't reach the piping.

My Check engine light came on yesterday while driving through town. I have had my short ram on for a week now and have been driving with no CEL on. I let it sit overnight and started it again today and the CEL was still on. So I put the stock air filter back on and the light went off. I guess it wasnt use to that much air

Yes it is important. Plug it back in. Just drill a hole and use the oem rubber grommet on the new hole that you just drilled.

I couldnt find anywhere open or anybody to read my code, So I couldn't properly diagnose the CEL. Do you think it was just because my car was adjusting to the new intake? (I do reset the battery each time after changing the intake)

thats why your cel went out after you changed it back to the factory system. disconnecting the battery resets the codes. no codes = no cel. drive around with the factory system on and see if the light comes back on. if it does, then it wasnt your intake. if it doesnt, put the intake back on and wait for the code. i believe advance auto will check the code for free. let us know what it is. even if the light comes back on with the factory intake still let us know what the code is and we will point you in the right direction.
