Upgrade Sound

Hi -

I am in the mode to upgrade the sound in my 7th gen corolla. I wanted to do the following inexpensive upgrade.

front 6.5"
6x9 rear

end product: kick's ass!

Thanks

I would use the 2 channel, the way I am I don't want unused channels.. But which ever has the highest RMS wattage per channels of the 2 and 4 is your best bet for the subs.

Does anyone know the stock depth on the 4" front door speakers? I rather replace them with 4" JBLs.

i researched bro and the stock are 4". How can I fit 5.25 on the door panels without them looking stoopid? I know I can fit 5.25 in the rears using the stock fitment. My concern was getting decent sound without fabricating anything.

jooo know wut im saying?

I think he used brackets to fit them in. Not too sure, and regarding your earlier comment.

"to get nice 10" subs out of the car what is a setup? I dont want to sound like that idiot rattling down the street. Id like to get nice high mids and lows. Thanks I am a total noob with car audio."

I have dual 10's, but the way I did mine was I kept the old school Sony Bass sub my bro had in the car (with really good lows) and got a Q-Power Highs sub. So coupled with the 4 6x9" speakers and 2 4" speakers I get really good highs and nice rumbling lows. I also have a 2000W 2-channel amp.

Installing the 5.25" front speakers was one of the easiest things ever! lol.

You just have to remove all the stock bracket stuff, then attach the speaker to the door panel. Here's my pic.

and you use 6.5" rear speakers cause that's the stock size...

I'm using 6x9 in the rears, and they work pretty good, only issue is my sub box barely clears the bottom of the speakers xD

I got 2 12" Kenwoods I gotta hook up soon.

Yep the 5.25 definitely fit the stock opening with a minor dremel fabrication. I am so happy with the upgrade compared to the stock over ten year old speakers. Keep in mind this my daily driver. I've owned this car for about a year. I bought it off craiglist for 2k with 130K miles dirt cheap in my opinion. These sounds are Day and Night.

I ordered Eclipse 6x9s model se6900 for the rear off amazon for $35 a pair.

The eclipse speakers are rated peak @ 200watts. Is it worth running an amp to push the speakers with a 4 channel or let the head unit run the speakers 4x 50 watts?

BTW i solder the wires. I didnt clamp them.
