What exactly failed? Usually they only die when the wires are damaged.

The first time it failed the CEL came on.Advance auto scanned the code-cam sensor fail. The 96 does not have a cam sensor;everything is run by the crank sensor.Prior to the CEL coming on it would be hard to start, lag, continue to turn over until it started,or the starter would just make a "thunk" noise.Well, same thing happened again this time, just about a year later. We changed the crank sensor and everything is back to normal.
