gen 7 Instrument Cluster twist lock wedge base

The O/D light in my instrument cluster was burned out so I though it would a good time to replace all the lights in my instrument cluster. The twist lock wedge base for the 194 and 74 bulbs are a one piece unit. My instrument cluster lights in my other cars just pull out of the wedge base. I was able to modify the base and the led and make it work. Is the one piece wedge base unique to all Toyota's?

I think its actually only on USDM the one piece bulbs, JDM clusters are two pieces at least according to Autozones database. You can offer just the bases from super bright leds I had to do that when I swapped colors on my dash

Thanks for the replies ! What I ended up doing was removing the pins in the base wedge. Removed the old broken wires and reinserted the pins. Then I just repositioned the wires on the bulbs. It sound worse than it really was. Took about 10 minutes to accomplished after I figured out was going on. I did buy extra base wedges for the 74 & 194 bulbs. You can pick them up pretty cheap online.

The background lights in the cluster use a 194 bulb. You will need 4 if your cluster doesn't have a tach. 3 if it does. I would recommend the 360 WLEDxHP5

The indicator lights use a standard 74 bulb. You may want to use an incandescent lamp for this position. I'm not sure of the number but I think you will need about 10 of them. It can get pretty pricey to replace all of them with led's. You could try Ebay. I know there are a bunch of Chinese vendors that sell them pretty cheap. I would recommended staying with a clear type bulb. It's all of matter of preference.

Keep in mind that some clusters have the one piece wedge socket. It might be less frustrating to replace the wedge sockets with the kind you can just pull and replace the bulb with. Check out the link to see what they look like. One is for the 74 bulb and the other for the 194.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

The single one are only USDM. You can buy the other ones from the dealer. Not sure if parts stores have them. I had to switch mine to use LED's. I think I paid $20 for everything.
