300 miles on 10 gallons (assuming you're at empty with about 2.5-3 gallons left) is 30mpg. Around town, expect about 25, less with a heavy foot racing between red lights and again less if you're using the AC (defrost/defog runs the AC).
Your mileage sounds similar to mine. I was able to get close to 400 miles on a tank. Mileage is now down to what you report. I blame it on the alcohol that is added to the gas. I put a new distributor rotor onand new spark plugs, and I am thinking of new cap and wires. I only have 60,000 miles on the current cap and wires.

That sounds perfectly normal to me. I live in the busy streets of Sacramento, California and I get 270-290 before the gas light goes on. When I lived in Oklahoma, I'd get 320 miles thanks to the long open roads.

I can get nearly 370 miles before my gaslight comes on.
And I do 80 on the highway, and race light to light with friends...
I average 35 mpg-33 mpg...With a check engine light on too.

That sounds nice. Is yours a stick shift? Our Corollas have an EPA estimated MPG of 27 MPG to 32 MPG... so I'll still stick with my statement that this is normal.

does it say in the manual how much is left in the tank when the light comes on? I averaged 23 last time I checked but my tires are out of round so that might not be helping.
on a full tank 96 1.8 auto i get about 550-600 km (350 miles) . I baby it thought rarely over 70mph on the highway. and don't rev over 2 very often on the roads. And i have a leaky gas tank at the top. Before the leak started i'd get 625-650km per tank (full full till 30-40km on the gas light)
Why not measure your actual gas mileage instead of estimating it based on miles per tank? It's a pretty easy procedure.
1) Fill your gas tank up and reset your trip meter to '0'
2) Drive your car until it's time to fill up again
3) Note how many gallons of gas the car takes
4) Now divide the number of miles driven by the number of gallons pumped (ex. you drove 300 miles and put 10 gallons of gas in, you get 30 mpg)
