so today i finally got around to installing my new horns. they came off of an '02 Cadillac Deville. hope fully ill have a video and some pics up by Tuesday so you all can hear what they sound like. i left the factory horn installed so it would clash nicely with the Caddy horns. they're pretty loud and pretty annoying. i may even write up a DIY for it.
I was VERY surprised when I went to install better horns that Toyota finally added a horn relay! I fully expected to have to add one when I was installing. They were easily mounted behind the grill in the stock location.
Man I need a new horn too. The OEM ones sound so wimpy. lol How hard was it to install? Did you just have to splice the new horn in with the old horn wires?
Yea, the compressor is a heavy load, alt takes a moment to catch up so I dip into battery for a moment. I could wire a capacitor onto the circuit and probable fix the dimming. Its only 135 Db at 6 inches, so probably around 110-100 out where it's being heard. Not too awful loud, but it gets attention if they're not paying any. My fave is to warn people walking in the street.
Stebel Nautilus, via relay mounted to the hood latch. It's the only way to honk. (And yeah, it does dim the lights, even with the relay.) I used to have the dual horns from a 1969 Fury 3, but wanted the space behind the headlights back...

I had that horn, I was not impressed. That's why I moved up to what I have currently on both cars. I reused the Stebel compressor but I don't think its as strong as the one that came with the kit for the 610 horn.
And oddly enough, I think the strongest compressor I've seen was on the $20 dual tone airhorn kit I bought from e-crater. That compressor is driving the single high tone on that red car. I'm thinking about buying another one of those cheap kits for the compressor for my own car and the using the old stebel compressor with the left over horns on my friends new-used Corolla. Or I'll get her a 15" horn like I have and find some other use for the left over trumpets.

Make and post a video too if you plan on writing up a DIY.
It will make a nice addition to the 7th gen DIY thread.

Made a video today. It's kind of long cause my computer is too slow to edit the video. It's also a quick walk around. The beginning is slow so try to hang in there when you watch it. I was having some issues with the connectors. Also ill post a wiring diagram as well.
