oil pressure gauge

does anyone know if you have to use a vdo sender when using a vdo oil pressure gauge.I know it wont work with the stock sending unit, but I have a vdo gauge and no sending unit. I can get a sending unit local for other manufacturer gauges, but would have to order a vdo sending unit ( which is also more money too)

Lets start off by asking what engine you are running with?

The 4AFE and 7AFE stock sending unit wont work afaik, you're gonna need a sandwich plate and another aftermarket (doesn't really matter what brand I think) sending unit for the pressure gauge. You can also wire an oil temp gauge to it, shouldn't be that expensive.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Any sending unit that is for a gauge should work. It doesnt have to be VDO. The stock one doesnt work because it doesnt have the variable output a gauge needs.
