New Here - '94 Corolla ?'s
Hello everyone. I am posting on here in hopes that some of you guys might have some suggestions to help my hubby with our '94 corolla.
We purchased the car new in '94 and my husband knows the maintenance of the vehicle and has done work on it for many years, but this time it is doing something that has him a bit stumped.
The car is manual and we know that it is just about time for a new clutch because it has been slipping for the last few months. The goal has been to get that replaced before spring. The car has 217,000 miles and has never had the clutch replaced! Just about a month ago, it started making a wierd squeeking noise when you turn left. My husband pulled the tires off, checked the brakes etc... and everything seems to be fine. Over the weekend, the squeek got a lot worse and almost sounds as if something is scaping. The noise is not there when the wheel is straight, but has started to make a slight squeek when turning right now also. Once again, he pulled the tires off and sees nothing. He says he thinks it could be the transaxle, which is tied into the clutch (?). I certainly do not understand much car lingo, so I hope I am typing this correct for him.
He is wondering if you guys have any suggestions as to what might be causing this.
Thanks in advance for any help.
