How to lock the cams?

Hi all,

I've bought a UK spec 1995 Toyota Corolla 1.3 automatic and would like to do a cam belt change.

How do I lock the cams so the things do not move whilst changing the belt because there doesn't appear to be a tool on the market available unlike on other cars?

Would a universal cam locking tool be any good?

Steve

I don't think it's an interference engine, so you don't need to. just put it all at tdc with the marks lined up and change the belt.

As the others said, no reason to lock the cams.

If you are really worried about something moving when you remove the old belt, before you remove the belt, mark the old belt at each gear. You can then transfer the marks to the new belt and line it up at each gear if you think you need to.
