93 Corolla Not Starting; battery only 2 years old

Have Toyota Corolla '93. Gas mileage has got even worse lately - down to 6 miles per gallon from 10 miles per gallon. Now can't even start car without jumper. Cleaned battery connections. Jump started. Drove it around 15 minutes to recharge. Next day, still can't start car. Do I need new spark plugs or something else?

first of all i gotta say, DAMN ONLY 6 MILES PER GALLON!?!??!
i would rather take the bus if it was that bad....

u can try changing spark plugs
maybe ur alternator is bad
or it could be your starter..

i remember when my starter went bad the only time i could start it was with jumpers

NONE of the suggestions bstylz made have anything to do with fuel economy.

I'm almost totally certain you have some major internal damage like burned valves or a holed piston. Even when running BADLY these cars have mileage in the 20's.

Start with a leakdown test and proceed from there.

Gotta have a car running first.

Once it does get running, replace the coolant temp sensor just for fun assuming it runs smoothly otherwise.

Replace the battery and battery cables and disconnect any radio's or alarms installed.
