Why does 96 corolla have "abs" on the cluster but it never lights up/have on the car?

I have been wondering this for a while, but why is there an abs thing on the instrument cluster but the car does not have it/lights up. I read some threads here that some people with a 93 corolla has abs. My dad's 96 camry has no abs and does not have it on the dash.

It was just an optional feature that Toyota didn't feel like developing an entire different gauge cluster to get rid of one light that might not be used.

Look under hood, there will be a big box with brake lines going to/from it under the hood in the passenger corner I think. If not, you don't have ABS.
