93 blown head gasket

I recently purchased this 93 corolla only to find out iy has a blown head gasket. Question is this... would I be better off replacing the gasket or the entire engine? 167,000 miles

All that depends on how hot it got. If the head is warped you are on your way towards thinking about another engine.

These engines arent known for using up head gaskets like the Honda D engines.

It also depends on how long it's been leaking. Anti-freeze eats bearings. Which means cam & main bearings will go bad fast. Doing a head gasket yourself (w/o getting a new head) is cheap. It's just a pita...if your going to pay for it, then I would get a new engine...
