A loose throttle cable with result in poor throttle responce, it's very easy to adjust with the two adjuster nuts. If the trans kickdown cable has slack then you might encounter shifting issues, it's not a very common issue.
If your car seems to be having trouble moving, try doing a Fuel System Tuneup with Throttle Body Service. Add fuel injector cleaner to your fuel tank and then clean the carbon build up from your throttle body and plate. This should help out quite a bit. If you are still having issues; check your spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor. If worn; replace! One last thing, if you have an adjustable distributor, make sure your timing is set correctly with a timing light.
