Lightbulb Cruise for 01 Corolla

Has anyone gone through the process of adding cruise control to a 01 Corolla? I assume some came from the factory or dealer installed with cruise, that would be the first choice, not really intrested in aftermarket kit info right now unless adding the stock stuff is too labour intensive. What other years of Corollas would the 01 parts be the same as? Thanks in advance for any help.

1998-2002 is the same basic model, 01/02 models had different headlights and tailights but they were still the same car.

Forget the "aftermarket" retrofit path. If I'm doing a retrofit of an option available from factory, I want it as factory as possible.

For cost I'd estimate could run you up to $1k if you get everything from 1sttoyotaparts new. Junkyards will sell for less.

You need to do work in three major areas;

steering wheel (to add the stalk)
behind glove box (to add the cruise control computer)
engine bay (to add the cruise control actuator)
behind passenger fender (to get access to the wire harness so you can hook up the actuator

Depending on your transmission, more work to add a cruise control clutch switch and wire it up (the wiring may already be there) or tap into the "D" wire of your tranny (there's a junction block wrapped up inside the engine wire you can use). This is a safety signal to disengage cruise if you shift out of D or depress the clutch.

Lots of labour, that's for sure.
