Hood Stuck, Latch Won't Open

I went to add washer fluid to my '02 corolla and pulled the hood release and it did nothing and stayed in a pulled out position. I went and pulled on the hood, it was fully closed. Went back into the car and pushed/pulled the lever and it didn't really have much tension. So now I have a broken latch with the hood stuck and seemingly no way to open it.

Is there a way to release it from a closed position from the outside/front of the car?

I found this thread:
Hood Latch Stuck - Help Please
but he has the hood open already.

never tried it on this car, but on alot of cars if you look up under the front bumper and can find the cable, pull it, see if it releases. Any chance its frozen? mine fights me a little when its cold out

well i had someone pull on the handle/latch whatever you want to call it from in the side, then i went and pushed up on the hood to get it to pop open. It worked. Spray seom WD-40 on the hood latch, then try it again and see if it will pop open on its own.

happened to me

The same thing happened to me, the wire broke off inside and I had to take it in to get a new wire. Depending on the car it has to be fed throuh certain places that I didn't want to mess with lol.

mine sticks often, i pull the latch, nothing happens, so when that happens, i smack my hood where the hood latch is, then try it again, that usually opens it up
