USA 2002 Corolla W/S Washer..

The windshield washers have stopped working. I'm assuming it's the pump but then I saw this small black component on the bottom of the reservoir with wires attached to it. Does anyone know what this is and what it does?

Thanks,
Marty.

Oh! I thought the pump would be bigger, it's looks like it's part of the whole assembly rather than a piece you can change by itself.

Thanks,
Marty.

Canadian cars have a float switch going there as well - triggers the washer fluid low light in the dash when the float drops.

Mine stopped working but was just a hole in the line under the hood - fixed it with part of a pen and some duct tape.
