DIY: How to replace a broken outside door handle.

My girlfriends 99 had a broken outside door handle, I bought a new one and decided to take some pictures of the process. It wasn't very hard but it could have been easier taking about an hour in the nice New Orleans summer heat of about 85+ degrees.

The pictures should also help people that might want to replace a broken inside door handle, mirrors, powered door/window controls, etc.

I hope this helps many people and that they search for it from now on instead of asking right away. lol Like that's going to change.

Thanks Bhavesh. I just wish I had a video camera or I'd video it.

I needed this to remove the door panel because I had bent something on the inside when replacing my interior drivers side door handle.

Thanks a lot.

Rockauto.com has them and also the inner handles.

Hey guys, just though I would add my quick opinion on interior door handles. My stock door handles lasted more than 10 years, then after they broke I bought the Dorman brand replacements from Rockauto and they all lasted less than six months a piece. I'm buying from amazon this time, hopefully they last longer.

My drivers side door handle is broken like yours. However, i have manual windows, not powered ones. Will that change the process at all?

Ah, the notorious broken door handles lol - I feel like I'm constantly changing the interior ones, and my exterior driver's side handle has been broken for...years. I even bought the part, sanded AND painted it white (I think they only sell black anymore) but couldn't get up the courage to tackle the project. You've made it seem very doable, much less intimidating, thank you!
