98 Corolla Mirrors VE (add an interior manual knob?)

Hey guys,

i have the VE trim and the mirrors are manual (i.e. if i want to adjust the mirror i have to ROLL DOWN the window and then push the mirror into place)

at work i noticed that a ce trim had manual mirrors also, BUT they can adjust it from inside the cabin b/c there is a knob (black and rectangular) connected to the window

now my question is, can i buy the knob and just "stick" it into my current mirrors?...i realize that you first have to take off the triangular plastic trim which is currently in place and if this works then i'll also have to buy a new trim piece which has a hole for the knob to go thru.

the knob is cheap like 8 bucks and the triangular plastic trim is also cheap as well...i just want to know if my current mirrors will accept the knob or not. do i need to buy a new mirror?

i dislike having to roll down the window to adjust the mirror everytime someone else in the family uses the car...=)

i'll take a pic later when i go to the parking lot...

That knob is connected to a series of control rods. If your setup has those connections - then yes, you can just install the new knob and window garnish/trim. Otherwise, you will have to replace the entire mirror assembly. Once you go that far - might as well go with electrically adjusted mirror. Can get OEM or try out some aftermarket ones.
