Engine Wont Shut Off

It has only happened a few times, but when i turn the ignition off, the engine continues to chug. One time it was only for a few seconds, the next it was for 4 minutes. The lights and radio shut off and they all happened on really hot days. I thought it might be dieseling, but it chugged for 4 minutes. Just wondering what your thoughts might be. 98 Corolla VE

most likely someone incorrectly adjusted your idle speed, i would look there first.

it could be an issue with the ignition switch or a relay staying stuck on or an actual engine problem. you should see if the coils are still firing and fuel pump is still running when this happens.

dont think the idle is adjustable by a screw. that'd be news to me.

most of the time that screw is just covered with glue or something. No need to adjust by hand since the computer really controls it,

i have been having trouble starting my car also. sometimes it would just click and not even roll over, but i thought it was just the contacts in my starter that were worn out. Now it sometimes tries to start and rolls over a bit without starting. Could this problem be related to the engine not shutting off?
