Japan I'm proud of this car

today... this car hit 210k miles or 215... not really sure...

it still gets over 30 mpg's and it will do 0-60 in about 8.5-9 second range...

my secret?

after about a 100k i do oil changes every 2000 miles and always use a good quality conventional with either a K&N filter or a Mobil 1

i changed the MT fluid 3 times since new with Mobil 1 75w-90 and now recently switched to
royal purple...

since i now shift without a clutch it has extended the clutch life drastically....

i still have to replace it however and that takes 4-7 hours in my drive way depending on how
i pace myself....

i just replaced rotors and brakes and the car has the same pedal feel back again....

this car is truly the best all rounded economy car with a little bit of power in her as well...

i will try my hardest to get 300k miles out of the original engine and transmission...

i am basically running on no motor mounts since they have worn out from downshifting and
regular use... lol so it sounds like a truck inside haha... but still its a great car

just wanted to share this with you all... this is proof that toyota makes the most reliable cars on the planet...

congrats and where are the pics?

the side mounts are very easy to get to and change. the front mount is a bit awkward but still not very hard. the pain in the a** is the rear mount...

DJ Orion challenged me to a drag strip run. I should see if I can hit that mark, LOL Good chance to compare my DashDyno's readout with the strip's slip too.

Yesterday I drained my Royal Purple and it looks like automotive paint after 2 years. Now I am on half Redline MT-90, half ancient garage semi-synthetic stash.

Wow that must mean major rev matching and just like driving a big truck without synchros. Do you come from such a background?

umm not really... i just like the concept of it... ever since i started of with honda and krap i realized that under decceleration in any gear you can pop it out of gear so since then i kept at it and then when i heard you could do it without a clutch i basically tried and it worked...

long story short i'm a pro at it now...

the problem with this is that not alot of MT drivers know that you can drive a car without a clutch...

as for the pics... i'm just to lazy... but believe me if i am online bragging about a 1998 corolla with 210k miles... i am deff not lying haha

Nice to hear that she's still going strong.

But 2000 mile oil changes? A bit too excessive if you ask me.

Indeed. Throwing away good money buying new oil and expensive filters every 2k miles. Just keep the oil topped off and you'll do great with those filters at 5k miles. The 3k oil changes of old are of no use now that oil is made better than it was back then.

now i have 225k miles and i just replaced an air filter today

the 2000 mile oil changes aren't excessive if i'm hitting redline everytime i shift

the stock clutch works alot better then the krappy duralast clutch i put in

this car is a dream to work on!
