Engine swap???

what would be the best possible engine swap for a 2000 toyota corolla and also would it even be wise to do it with a A/T?

You can put a 4AGE, 3SGTE, 3SGE, and 2ZZGE. I'm probably missing a couple but this topic has been asked about before.

EDIT :

Heres a list

In your opinion what would be the best swap... offering the most aftermarket support?

DjiNN regarding that link you provided will this one fit with out any problem and without much modifications?

2ZZGE VVTL-i - 2005
1.8 LITER DOHC INLINE-4
170 HP @ 7600 RPM
127 FT-LBS @ 4400 RPM

Also any non-toyota engines that you know that may fit?

3S-GTE swap if your best bet if you're looking for power.

It's been done before.

IIRC, the total cost was about $10-$12K including parts and labour. A shop did the swap.

Guy was Canadian too.

well any engine will fit but all has to have modifications. More than anything it just depends on how deep your pockets are. 3SGTE would be the best bet for 98-02 corolla. Its turbo, our vehicles are light, and its not as exp as a 2JZGTE. only downside to a 3SGTE is the weight of the engine in our vehicles.

The SR20 can be fit transverse and so can the KA24 but that requires custom everything.

you would have a better and cheaper not to mention time retrofitting a 4A-G(Z)E 20 valve or a 2ZZ. you wont be able to keep your transmission for either without a VERY smart EMU. the 4A ECU is made for a A242E which you MIGHT be able to get to mesh with an A245E but a well built 4A (which youd need to justify the cost of the swap) will toast all but the toughest trannys. a 2ZZ will straight up ROAST anything but the Tiptronic or a 6 Speed. you'd be better off keeping the stock motor if you only want to spend 2000 as any 2ZZ in a junkyard probably has a fried oil pump and you wont be able to TOUCH a 4A 20V OR a well built 4A-GE for less than 2500 (if you want it remanufactured, which you will otherwise your playing russian roulette with your engine).
as for Nissan motors. you MIGHT be able to drop a SR20DE from a sentra SE-R or an older one from a 200SX. but you're still looking at 2000 for a reman engine alone. and a toyota transmission will need custom a bellhousing to bolt to a SR20. not to mention a custom EMU.
and as for your 2JZ... no, get it out of your head. a 2JZ is a physically LARGE engine (seen one out of car) and would not fit under the hood without EXTENSIVE modifications to the frame and Unibody. not to mention the 2JZ was ONLY designed for RWD, there is no Toyota transmission for the 2JZ that is NOT RWD. as for making your corolla RWD, you'd be better off buying a new car.
if your interested in keeping stock but want to have an automatic let me know. i can help you get a nice fun car for about 2000 to 3000 give or take. it wont be a straight line burner. if thats what your looking for then you have the wrong car. 8th gens make nice autocross cars but thats the extent for your average tuner that doesn't have ridiculous amounts of money.

Well as PhatRoyale said in this post its going to be $10-$12k wouldnt it be smarter to keep the stock engine and get a custom turbo and what not made for it? like in a month or so i was going to buy an injen tech. SRI and stuff like that and i was going to get a body kit or possibly a lip kit from supershyguy but i also dont want a rice rocket i wanna be able to back up the looks of the car with stuff under the hood if your catching my drift...this car has like no power what-so ever you floor it and the tires barely spin -.- i was going to make a switch from a corolla to a supra and my dad was paying for everything too but its just to hard to get rid of this car i love it so much being my first and and everything...i also dont wanna spring for a civic i hate em so much everysingle tuner has one of those i wan an original car...if some civics can be tuned to be fast why cant corollas right? same engine size, and all basically same cars diff manufacturers....sorry i rambled on there...
