Started it up both signal light indicators and the high beam light came on as soon as i started it and would not turn off. light from the head lights was very dim, tried to turn lights on and off and the dash lights went crazy then it died and wont start. turns over but no start.
had to go to work so i disc the batt. and left it. I have no clue where to start, my only thought is maybe the ecm or a few fuses blew?
It will start, but as soon as i turn on the headlights or signal lights instantly dies.
also the engine will bog pretty bad when turning on the ac as well.
It happened to my car one day. It was fine the day before then the next morning the car wouldn't start. It was a bad battery. JUst changed out the battery and everything was good to go!

Could also be a bad alternator - I'd pull it off and have it tested. Other than that - could be an integration relay issue (basically hold all the fuses that are by the kickpanel on the driver's side door).
well further investigation has found it's probably not the alt.
the car will start and run fine until i turn on the lights, or signal lights then it dies. and won't restart till I disconnect and reconnect the battery. also the buzzer and dash lights will stay on once i've tried to turn on the headlights even if the key is removed, bliping the starter turns it all back off. I'm pretty much convinced it's a relay, possibly a short or the ecm. leaning toward a relay though. Problem is I have no idea which one or how it could be causing this.

I'd tend to agree with you.. sounds like a short or a relay, and relays can be a booger to track down.. Switches can cause shorts and weird stuff to happen, and it sounds like your headlights and turn signals are heavily involved, so maybe try replacing/inspecting your whole level assembly. Or disconnect it and see if the main problem subsides.. just where I'd start at any rate..
Another thought: you could try finding and pulling the fuzes for the turn signals and headlights.
Well I've been through every fuse in the car, and tested almost all the relays. I've given up, It has to be a short somewhere. Just gonna take it to the shop at this point.
theres a ground behind the drivers side left kick panel, about 6 black/wht wired all connect together to a larger wire which grounds to the chassis. make sure none of those wires are burned up. i've seen this before, that ground there is for some engine systems as well as the DRL module and some other lighting parts. what happens is that the ground burns in one of the smaller wires for some reason at the connector (you'll see a crunchy melted plastic connector) and then ground gets pulled through the headlights (through the bulbs themselves!!!!) via the DRL module. the DRL module also gets burned up the process usually a quick test for this one is to unground the headlights or take the bulbs out/unplug them. the car should NOT start if this is the case....but even so start checking grounds. usually a weird problem like this where 2 seemingly unrelated systems effect each other ends up being a ground issue. if you check a ground distribution diagram and then look at the headlight wiring diagrams and the engine wiring diagrams you'll see the ground i'm talking about. i saw this on a 98 prizm and it was like G202 or G201...something like that. its been a little while. i don't know if toyotas diagrams name grounds the same way that GM diagrams do.
Well to follow up, took it to the shop and after a few days they finally traced it to the daytime running light relay. A $250 dealer only part buried under the dash.
it is indeed dealer only and very expensive, but its not exactly buried, take the glovebox out and its right there above it and not hard to get at.
you need to find out why the DRL box burned out, as i stated above i had seen this caused by a burned ground. once the ground was repaired the engine ran fine with the DRL unplugged, but once plugged in there would be strange symptoms and the headlights would not work correctly.
