I hate being "that" guy. The one that brings up the subject that has like a million threads. But i need help.
I want to lower my car, my dad doesnt.
Dad says its unnatural for this car to be low, by low i mean tein h-tech. He says its pointless to make this car a psuedo-sports car.
can someone give me counter arguements to try and pursuade him?
P.S. My dad used to race professionally. so if you guys are willing to help, he will not sway easy.
thanks!

Well who does the car belong to? You or your dad? If your dad, well you better listen. If not, lower it anyway. I would but i dont have the struts to do so. Ive been sitting on the last Eibach springs that they made (ive been told) for about an year or two. I need get a better paying job.....

my dad used to say the same thing but i lowered it anyway....i would say getting at least 1.6 drop and make sure to get a better strut such as tokico's, eibach's...trust me better to do it the best way with stock shocks it will blow after few months...
I sawa a kit on ebay for 350 or so... I forget the exact amount. Anyway it was a KYB kit with a 1.7 inch drop all around. Do you guys think this would be good? I'm thinking of picking it up. As you can see from my sig, I'm riding high like a truck currently.

whose name is on the car's title?
if you are paying everything for the car (payment if any, gas, maintenance, insurance, etc) then use your money drop it to whatever you like and just tell your dad this is what you want for your car.
but if your parents' name are on the car's title and they are paying for everything on the car, i don't see any right for you to drop the car. sorry, it's a fact of life, just have to live with it.

To be honest I see where both sides are coming from. No I'm not gonna pick sides but will add my $0.02 worth. I too wanted to lower my 99 Corolla but chose not to after. One reason is road conditions. I do see you want to pimp your ride that reflects you / your personality or for whatever reason may be. Like my car Tigger it's like an extention of myself in a way. I always wear my sunglasses so that's what the Tint represent is one example. Long story short I wouldn't bother lowering it.
Thanks for all the tips! the car is unfortunately in my dads name, but i pay for everything. I think i'll have to wait till its my name or something. or just do it.
he used to race an impreza in mid 90's, it was back in russia. rally. went to finland for a race or two, some other countries. further back, used to race Lada's back in the 1980's and the russian championships. nothing tooo extreme. Then he used export import cars. owned a mechanic shop. so he definitely knows his cars. :P
